Equipment needed for diving and snorkeling

There's times that our family goes on guided snorkeling trips and other times we go with expert guides, especially when we're scuba diving. Make sure to plan your trip accordingly and book a professional ahead of time if that's the route you go.

There are a lot of great opportunities to snorkel on your own if you're capable of doing so. We travel with our snorkel gear and have found creative ways to pack it. Keep in mind that a lot of equipment will be provided for you if you go with a guide. Below is the gear you will use regardless of whether you go with a guide or do it yourself.

  • Snorkel mask
  • Snorkel tube
  • Dive fins
  • Wetsuit
  • Rashguard
  • Underwater camera or goPro
  • Regulator
  • Weight belt
  • Dive knife
  • Dive bag
  • Surface marker buoy (SMB)
